Meet the Founder
DJUNA MUNPFANO KASHIRA was born in Africa in the East of the Democratic republic of Congo.
Legacy of Love was established in 2018 by Pastor Djuna, with the help of Peter Lipsy and Amanda Lipsy who felt connected to the vision and made themselves available and supportive.
Legacy of Love seeks to give aid to distressed communities in Africa and the US.
The Democratic Republic of Congo has faced many wars, and internal conflicts, and because of this many people were victims of abuses, sexual violence, torture, threatening, looting and some were forced to abandon their villages. As one of the people who survived these hostilities, I decided to be part of the human rights defenders and social work. I became involved in creating this organization which was characterized by showing love and serving others within families, social networks and institutions. I was so moved by the lives of the displaced people and the victims of violence that I decided to intervene, to promote the general welfare of the victims, from local global levels and the development of people for their basic human needs in the community. While living as a refugee in Uganda, I served people as a Protection Community worker under the supervision of the UNHCR (United High Commissioner for Refugees), where I once again felt the pain of displaced people. This further motivated me to action, thus establishing Legacy of Love.

Goma’s Displaced Community
Neglected communities in places like North Kivu, live with the daily threat of violence from multiple armed groups. Without basic government support or communications systems, they are left completely unprotected with no way to call for help.
People aren’t the only targets. In remote and economically poor places like these, communities and criminals alike depend on the natural environment for their survival. Armed groups terrorize communities while funding their crimes through illegal wildlife poaching and trafficking. These cycles of violence and exploitation threaten the very existence of entire communities and their ecosystems.
The work of Legacy Of Love is not only saving lives, it is tackling the underlying challenges that prevent communities from having the resources they deserve and need to flourish.

“To build the world we need, we must choose to see a better way beyond the current reality, believe that a better way is possible, and commit to creating it.” Says Djuna Kashira, the founder of the organization.
